ACUPUNCTURE

Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medicine technique for balancing the flow of energy life force of the body - called 'qi' or 'chi' energy. This is practiced with the use of needles inserted through a person's skin at specific points of the body called acupuncture points. There are various disorders treated with the use of acupuncture. Other treatments may include acupressure, cupping, electrical stimulation (e-stim), guasha or moxibustion.

Acupuncture with: Danielle Meyers

I am a dedicated learner of classical Chinese medicine for prevention of disease and improved quality of life. I have experienced first hand the benefits of Chinese Medicine. I received acupuncture in 2019, after I fractured 2 ribs. The pain was terrible but, what was worse was how I couldn’t do the things I loved; yoga, rock climbing, hiking, laughing. I was amazed at not only the pain relief the needles provided but also, the mental relief I felt after my appointments. I needed to know what was happening to me- that’s when I enrolled in Pacific College of Health and received a Master of Science in Acupuncture. I have learned so much and I would love to share my knowledge with you.

CUPPING & ACUPRESSUrE

Cupping promotes relaxation and relieves muscle tension by improving blood and Qi flow. Stagnation in these vital energies often arises from tight muscles, poor posture, or lack of exercise. Cupping lifts tissue, encourages fresh blood circulation, and reveals stagnation with temporary marks. These marks provide insights into your body's energy, fading within a few days.

There are points on the surface of the body that can help you access your deeper, subtle energy and alleviate pain and discomfort. Based on ancient Chinese Medicine, these acupressure points are small areas along the body's meridian pathways that you can use to affect other distant parts of the body. By massaging small areas, stretching the flesh horizontally, placing pressure directly down, or in certain directions depending on curvature or space between bones and flesh you can stimulate these pressure points and consequently feel relief/release from physical, mental, and emotional stresses.

MASSAGE & BODYWORK

Our Massage Therapists:

Tilden, Todd, LMT, NCTMB: Tilden has been a massage therapist for 9 years. He attended the Swedish Institute College of Health Sciences, where he received an Associates degree in Occupational Therapy with a focus in Massage Therapy. He also received his National License to allow him to work in other states and around the world, notably the W Hotel in Vieques P.R.

Through the many years as a Massage Therapist he discovered a technique that he likes to call Mind Body Release, which is a mixture of Western and Eastern Massage techniques.  Mind Body Release allows the mind and body to come into harmony by integrating the three R’s, which are, Relax, Release, and Restore.  Once your mind tells the body to relax it will begin to release tension, increase circulation, and allow for restoration, bringing the body back to a place of homeostasis. He is a true believer that the body was created to heal itself….of course coupled with Massage.

THAI BODYWORK

This technique is an ancient system combining acupressure, Ayurveda, and assisted yoga postures which serves to open and stretch the body. We can uncover tension, relieve and release stress otherwise unaccomplished by other forms of massage. Its method assists in improving body misalignments, athletic performance, as well as increasing flexibility and joint mobility. The goal in this work is not limited to its physical benefits, but also to aid in identifying root causes of mind/body trauma with intention to find a path of self-awareness and healing. There are no massage oils used, the recipient is fully dressed in comfortable clothes and we work on blankets and mats.

AYURVEDIC MASSAGE

Ayurvedic Facial Massage / Mukha Abhyanga

An Ayurvedic Facial is a Holistic Treatment that involves isolating the Nadis and Marma points and massaging them in a specific way. Marmas and Nadis are subtle, vital energy points where two or more types of tissues meet.

The style and flow of an Ayurvedic massage are determined by what an individual needs. Andrea will typically use massage techniques including tapping, kneading, and squeezing, as well as traditional massage strokes. Movement flow can be quick or drawn out, depending on a person's needs.

Ayurvedic Head Massage / Shiro Abhyanga

Ayurvedic head massage consists in massaging the head, neck and shoulders with warm herb-infused oil to calm and balance the mind and the nervous system by activating the main marma points of the head. This massage will also hydrate and activate blood flow in the scalp and skin. The herbal oil is selected according to the body type and condition of the person receiving the massage.

It is recommended that you book some time to wash your hair one hour after receiving the massage.

SOUND MASSAGE

Sound massage with Himalayan singing bowls techniques  use sound, vibration, and intention to gently transition a person from his or her normal waking state of consciousness (beta) to a highly relaxed state of consciousness (alpha, theta and delta). In this relaxed state, a person’s own innate healing abilities are able to work more effectively to bring the person back into optimal vibrational alignment that enhances overall health and well-being.

A sound massage is executed with one or various Himalayan Singing Bowls that are placed along all the parts of the body except for the face.

The vibrations of the bowl are placed directly on the body, making the reception of the vibrations stronger than in a sound bath where the bowls are not touching the body.

Just like a Swedish or Deep tissue massage, a sound massage is a one-on-one activity. However, only the singing bowls touch the body. The sound healer does not rub the patient’s body with his or her hands.

Sound massages cannot be received more than twice per week, due to the intense cellular and brain wave effects it has over the body.
